[ MESSAGE BOX ]

[ This is a message box for one Percy Jackson @ Empatheias. The question, however, is why would you leave a message for a demigod who doesn't even know how to check texts on a smartphone? I mean, really. The best you're going to get is probably Annabeth making him read the messages for this box. ( Thanks Annabeth ) ]

⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Percy Jackson
Age: 17
Canon: Camp Halfblood Chronicles
Canon Point: Before Blood of Olympus

Background: Percy Jackson.

If you have dyslexia, if words on a page lift off and scatter, confusing you as to what you're reading . . . or maybe even having ADHD and not being able to sit still? Guess what? You're a demigod/halfblood. That's basically what Percy Jackson is told when he finds out he's the Son of Poseidon, one of the pantheon of Greek gods that actually exist in real life. Who would've thought that? But it gets even better. Or worse? Because then he's told that he's basically won the secret kind of awesome yet kind of awful lottery in the aspect that now strange monsters are after him, wanting to kill him because of what he is. So he has to go to a place called Camp Half-Blood because it's the only safe place for him now. In the past, he was able to get by due to the fact that his mother stayed with a loser asshole because that loser asshole's scent covered up Percy's scent as a demigod. But now that's null and void. And as soon as he enters this camp, his journey begins because that's where he meets others of his kind, befriending them and making enemies of some of them all the while trying to figure out who and what he is now that everything has changed for him.

Personality: Percy Jackson, Son of Poseidon, Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses and all that is watery and wet. Percy is not your typical teenager, he's a halfblood/demigod who starts off thinking he's a normal kid with dyslexia and ADHD. But surprise surprise, he's not and that's what makes him who he is. He's the kind of guy you can buddy around with, have fun with and at any time or place he can shoot off a sassy retort and banter with the best of them. In fact, he's so good at this that he kind of automatically makes enemies-- not because he intentionally means to, but because sometimes he can't keep his mouth shut. Even when he tells himself to shut up, the words just slip out of his mouth. It's like his personal off switch is broken, which kind of ends up getting him into a lot of trouble. Who knew being a sassy demigod was so hard?

The thing is, despite being half god and half mortal, he's also very much a victim of his heritage; like the seas and oceans, he prefers to be unrestrained and free to do as he wishes. He doesn't like being held down or told what to do because his own free will is important to him. That's why he tries to reject a lot of what people order to tell him to do because he prefers to make his own decisions based on his own thoughts and opinions. However, this does tend to bite him in the ass a fair bit. And over time he learns to listen to others-- this is especially so when he ends up in the Underworld with fellow demigod Annabeth Chase. Because of Nico's caring side, he pays attention to and treats the people who are neglected with respect. This ends up helping Percy out because Nico tells Bob, originally an enemy but now a sweet sort of Titan, that Percy and Annabeth are good people, they were able to survive and escape the Underworld. When Percy learns this though, he realizes just how much he hadn't given people credit where credit was due. And that's why he tries to emulate that type of understanding and care so he can be a better person.

Besides being a sassy and courageous, he's also a natural born leader. He has an instinct for it and a quirky sort of charm that ends up making people want to follow him. Not only that, but he's the type to always have your back no matter what if you're his friend. He's not the type to let anyone down or leave anyone behind. He's a hero through and through and he'll do everything in his power to make things okay, not just for him but also for the people he cares about. And while he does have his flaws- like having a short temper and recklessly running headfirst into danger to help a friend, he does his best as a person to overcome them. At the same time, all demigods/halfbloods have a specific sort of flaw. I'm not talking about some of them; I'm talking about all of them. And Percy's is personal loyalty. Remember what I said about him not letting anyone down and leaving anyone behind? That's his flaw. He will do everything he can to help a friend-- even if it means tossing the world aside to save them. This is why a lot of the gods view him as a threat because as a child of one of the Big Three ( Hades, Zeus and Poseidon ), he's more powerful than most other demigods. And he's also part of a prophecy that involves a child of the Big three having a big hand in either saving the world or letting the world be destroyed. Which means his personal flaw can put everything and everyone at stake, gods, humans and demigods/halfbloods alike.

Good news, though. He ends up saving the world despite all of that. Several times. And all with the help of his friends and a sturdy old pen. I mean sword. I mean pen. Did I mention he has a pen that turns into a sword called Riptide? Because he does.

Abilities: Percy is a son of Poseidon, one of the big three ( Zeus/Hades/Poseidon ); who is one of the most powerful Greek gods in the line up. So he has dominion over everything watery and wet. For instance, when he's in contact with water, he gains almost superhuman abilities where he's harder, faster, better and stronger in almost every aspect. He also has the ability of heat resistance because, come on, throwing fire at a watery demigod will practically get you an eyeroll from a nearby porpoise. Being in contact with water can also heal Percy from any wounds or damage he sustains in a fight/battle or even a kerfuffle of a scuffle with someone else. This also affects any type of poison that he's poisoned with too; the water will basically cure him and he'll be right as rain, no pun intended, at the end of it. Beyond that, he can use pretty much his will and his emotions to strengthen his control over water and where it goes and different types of liquid attacks, where he can even summon it if necessary. To be technical, he could probably also draw water from the moisture in the air to aid him. So basically he has hydrokineses and water is probably akin to the Force in Star Wars for him, except there is no light or dark side; there's only Percy Jackson. This also means that he can breathe underwater; he doesn't have gills, but basically what happens is that he can kind of draw pockets of air in with him and breathe through those. Water pressure also has nothing on him. He also has what I call "water gps". What is that? It's an ability where he can give you the exact coordinates/location of wherever they are in the seas/oceans and which coordinates you need to get to while on water. Basically, everything involved with water is linked to every ability he has. Another example is like Piper who's a daughter of Aphrodite; she has the ability to speak French because it's the language of love. So Percy has the power to speak to animals both normally and telepathically that live in any body of water. There are lesser powers he has, as well. He can summon hurricanes/storms, he can make earthquakes happen too but I call them lesser powers because he has less control of them than he does over his guaranteed hydrokinesis.

There's also the general ADHD that all demigods/halfbloods have. This is because their brains aren't hardwired to read normal language, their brains are fixed on being able to read Ancient Greek. Their instincts and skills are also pretty much attributed as "ADHD" because those instincts and skills for fighting are pretty much in their genetics. So what you have is a demigod who can't sit still, can't read very well because letters get jumbled up when they look at them and that's why normal people just think they have ADHD.

Alignment: Thras. Basically because at the beginning Percy is a scared kid who doesn't know what or who he has once he finds out that he's a Son of Poseidon. However, as time passes and he becomes more confident and sure of his own abilities, he shows himself to be one of the bravest characters within the series.

Other: Percy will be bringing along Mrs. O' Leary, a hellhound that will be miniaturized to normal size.

( CRIT POST )

I'm basically only human, which means I'm liable to make some mistakes on characterization. Especially if it's the first time I'm playing said character. This is why posts like this exist. Feel free to comment & critique me on my interpretation of Percy Jackson; I'll do my best to listen & take in any advice you might have for me.

( STATS & PERMISSIONS )

[ Age ] 17

[ Height ] 6'0

[ Weight ] RICK RIORDAN TELL ME HOW MUCH HE WEIGHS

[ Medical Info ] dyslexic and ADHD

[ Birthday ] August 18

[ Eyes ] green

[ Hair ] black

[ Physical traits ]

Percy is described as a very handsome young man, with jet black hair and bright sea green eyes. Despite most assuming he is tall, this has never been confirmed, with only the fact that he is an inch shorter than Jason and taller than Annabeth being confirmed. He had a gray streak of hair he obtained in The Titan's Curse from holding the sky, but has since lost it, as stated in The Mark of Athena by Annabeth. It is said that Percy gets his handsome looks from his father, Poseidon, a reason why Medusa wanted to preserve a statue of him. At the beginning of the series, Percy was average in athletics but later from his training, becomes very fit, muscular, and lean. He does not seem to know it, or may simply refuse to acknowledge it, but a great number of girls find him extremely attractive. Even Hazel Levesque stated that "He had the good looks of a Roman god." He is also complimented by Calypso, who when asked whether she was in love with Percy states, "If you could see your face. Of course, you."

After he slew Polybotes in The Son of Neptune, Percy received a tattoo of a trident and SPQR on the underside of his arm to signify that he is a full member of the Roman 12th Legion Fulminata. After Annabeth and Percy's reunion in The Mark of Athena, Annabeth says that Percy grew even more handsome, muscular and taller. She says that Percy's lips are salty and he smells like the sea, with the latter later remarked by Piper. According to Piper, he looks like a skater and a troublemaker, but she can still see what women would like about him, even if he isn't her type. Piper later states that when Percy pleads, his sea-green eyes seemed to be "like a cute baby seal that needed help," and wonders how Annabeth ever won an argument with him.

[ What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her ]

[ Abilities ]

Water-Induced Abilities: When in contact with or in the presence of water, Percy gains a disproportionate amount of superhuman clarity, strength, speed, agility, and endurance equaling a god and he has shown to be more powerful than Ares while in this state. In The Lightning Thief, Percy was able to defeat Luke in the Camp Half-Blood swordsmanship class after he'd doused himself in water. In addition, after Percy was pushed into the creek during Capture the Flag, he effortlessly defeated four children of Ares in rapid succession, including Clarisse, with ease. However, this only lasts for a limited amount of time unless he is completely submerged in water. He also heals himself from any wound and most poisons when he comes into contact with water, the amount of water and time needed for the healing being proportionate to the severity of the wound.

Hydrokinesis: With the power of the sea within him, Percy can control every form and great volumes of water, being even able to summon and heal his wounds and cure himself of most poisons with it. Percy can control water almost omnipotently. He can control it in order to make it explode, or use it to grab something. His hydrokinesis abilities include:

General Hydrokinesis: He can create water from petrified seashells, as well as being able to create water with his own energy and summoning the "force of the ocean" to his will, as long as he concentrates hard enough. He can also harden water into an almost solid shape.
Hydrogenesis: Percy can create water from his own power, though it takes much of his energy for him to do so. Percy did this while at Mount Saint Helens, creating water out of nothing to cause a volcanic eruption. He also uses this skill while creating his own personal hurricanes. While traveling on the Argo II during The Mark of Athena, he presumably used this ability while combining his powers with Jason Grace's to create powerful storms.
Healing Factor: Since he is the son of Poseidon he can heal most wounds and cure most poisons when in contact with water.
Water Propulsion: He can control the water around him to propel himself through water. Percy can shoot water, not only from being in water, but he can blast the own water he creates.
Underwater breathing: Percy can breathe underwater and diffuse the oxygen in the water to create oxygen bubbles that allow his non-hydrokinetic friends to breathe underwater.
Water Immunity: Percy can fall from great heights into water, and is unaffected by any amount of water pressure. He does not get wet if submerged in water, unless he wants to. Percy can dry items underwater (as long as he holds onto it), such as a lighter.
Water Solidification: Percy can harden water into an almost solid shape. He can use this power to walk on water, by increasing the surface tension of the water to the point where it is solid enough for him to stand on, and water constructs. So far, he has demonstrated creating a strong water shield, and on two instances in The Son of Neptune, he hardened the water into giant hands that followed and imitated the movements of his own hands.
Sailing Skills: Percy possesses an intimate awareness of any ship he is on (sailing ships, canoes, motorboats, possibly submarines); being able to telekinetically operate one (as well as anything related to the ocean) because he has perfect bearings on the ocean, he can easily navigate his way at sea.
Communication: Percy has divine authority over and can talk (normally and telepathically) to equines and sea creatures who mainly treat him with deference and lordly respect. He can also speak to other children of Poseidon underwater (seen in The Sea of Monsters, in a conversation with Tyson).

Aerokinesis (unknown degree): Percy can summon hurricanes and other types of storms, but the extent to which he can control them is as of yet unknown. Percy's hurricanes have been show to be powerful enough to douse the fires on Hyperion's body, leaving the powerful Titan vulnerable to attack. By the events of The Son of Neptune he is able to sustain the storm with less effort than his first use of the skill against the Titan Hyperion, although it still drains him over time.

Geokinesis (limited): Percy can generate earthquakes and (consequently) cause volcanic eruptions, but his control of this technique is less than that of a child of Hades.

Cryokinesis (limited): Percy can use cryokinesis to a small degree. He is able to use the ice and snow around him to make an icy hurricane, as he does during the battle in Alaska in The Son of Neptune. He can also manipulate frozen or icy water around him, demonstrated during his interrupted fight with Thalia in The Titan's Curse.

Electrokinesis (limited): Percy used this skill unintentionally on one occasion, while creating his own miniature hurricane to fight Hyperion. Sparks of lightning appeared as his hurricane increased in power. His control of this ability, however, is far less than that of a child of Zeus and appears to be a limited side effect of his storms.

Heat Resistance: Percy has a far higher than normal resistance to heat and burns, similar to that of a cyclops, due to his father's oceanic nature. He was able to survive being engulfed by lava thrown by the telekhines, though it began to get more painful the longer he was in contact with it, as well not being killed by the super-heated steam from the eruption of Mount Saint Helens.

Toxikinesis (limited): Percy can control and manipulate poisons, as seen when he beats Ahklys in Tartarus in The House of Hades. This is limited, though, as poison is only part water. However, this may only be possible in Tartarus, as the laws of nature act differently there. The full extent of this power is unknown although he is able to control it well enough, when angry, to the point of scaring Annabeth who even asks him to stop.

ADHD: Percy's supernatural alertness and keen senses that keep him ready for, and alive, in battle. It also lets him analyze his opponents fighting style as well as pick up minor details about an opponent, such as where their muscles tense so he can tell which direction they'll attack from. This is one general trait of demigods.

Dyslexia: Percy's brain is "hard-wired" for reading divine Ancient Greek instead of mortal languages. During his time at Camp Jupiter he learned to understand, and possibly speak, Latin to an unknown degree. This, along with ADHD, is a trait common to most demigods.

Limited Clairvoyance: Percy is able to watch events in distant locations and times, particularly hidden things because of his father's unpredictable nature. He occasionally takes the place of a different person in his visions (such as Hercules).

Fighting Skills: Percy is a naturally talented and expert swordsman, capable of holding his own against and even defeating larger, more experienced, and more powerful opponents, including gods and Titans as well as monsters. In The Son of Neptune, even after losing the Curse of Achilles, he is still shown to be able to fend off an entire army of continually resurrecting ghosts by himself while still protecting Frank. His Greek training and unpredictable, solo fighting style make him particularly dangerous to the demigods of Camp Jupiter, who are used to fighting as a group, allowing him to easily defeat multiple opponents at once.

Above Average Strength: In The Titan's Curse, Percy was shown to be strong enough to be able to hold up the sky single-handed (but just barely). He was also shown in The Lightning Thief to be able to jump on the Minotaur's back and rip off it's horn. In The Son of Neptune, even after losing his Curse of Achilles, Percy was able to defeat Polybotes with nothing but his sword and Terminus' head.

Empathy Link: Percy has a psychic connection with Grover called an empathy link. In The Son of Neptune, Don the faun said that Percy had an empathy link with another faun who is Grover.

Eye of Horus Symbol: Percy has an image of the Eye of Horus drawn on his palm, which can allow him to summon Carter Kane wherever he is just by speaking his name, though Percy can use it only once. So far Percy hasn't used it yet.
